My Personal Beliefs and Heroes
Thank you for looking at my web page! Click the red letters on this page to find links & more information!
I have an approach to working with people that is based on both my faith, life experiences, and training. My desire is to create trusting conversational environments where people can connect, authentically deal with the issues of their heart, and affect their world.
The direction I provide is based on a non-judgmental perspective of human change and a healthy spirituality. My skills are driven by multidisciplinary graduate training in biblical theology, clinical social work, and counseling research. My professional history includes a number of ministry roles, as well as secular clinical people-helping professions since 1997. I am fascinated by the destinct and ever changing cultures surrounding these fields. I am also passionate about learning and teaching new ways to come along side people who seek our care.
Witnessing the attack on the World Trade Center and serving people in the days following September 11, 2001 greatly influenced my views on the role and opportunities for church leaders, mental health professionals, and everyday people to work together. My faith in Christ motivates a "real world" compassion for people. Toward this vision, In 2011 my wife and I founded City Praxis, Inc. Please see our website at www.CityPraxis.org for more details.
I am excited to get to know you. Please review these web pages and contact the Grace Counseling scheduler to learn more about my services or schedule an appointment!
Warmly,
Ryan
My approach is consistent with the beliefs, values, and direction of the organization that hosts my practice, Grace Church of Middleburg Heights, Ohio. The authors who best represent my theological beliefs include Tim Keller, A.W. Tozer, and the general doctrines based on the Westminster Catechism & 2nd London Baptist Confession.
The published counselors to whom I owe an eternal debt of gratitude include Dr. Larry Crabb, Dr. Eric Johnson, Dr. Phil Monroe, & Dr. Robert C. Roberts. I have a generally high regard for the work represented by associations such as NACSW, CCEF, & AACC. My ministry mentors include Dr. Mike Dittman, Ted Boykin, and Pastors Jonathan Schaeffer, Dave Epstein, Rick Duncan, & Dave Crompton. Also, New York University's clinical & mental health leaders educated me and therefore changed my world for good.
